About

My Name is Nicole, but online, I usually go by “NILJE”.

I am 33 years old, a mother of a beautiful 7 year old boy and in a relationship with my boyfriend Karl, who has a gorgeous girl aged 9.

Originally, I started out making cards for my son 5 years ago, seeing as he is not living with me full time I wanted him to have a card with a little message every week.

Recently, my grandma became very ill after her third stroke: she is no longer able to speak and is pretty much bed bound. I live three hours away and don’t own a car, so I promised her to come and visit as often as I can and to send her a card every week to keep her up-to-date on what is going on in the family.

What started out as a simple card – in the beginning even store bought – has now become a real time consuming hobby in the best way. My cards keep evolving and I am always learning new techniques and experimenting with ideas.

Last christmas, I found by chance the wonderful stamps by Bildmålarna – to me a big colouring challenge!

After receiving my wonderful, gorgeous teal Big Shot, my card-making and scrapbooking has kind of exploded and has brought everything to the next level! I like different styles, from CAS to intricate (though not overloaded and all-consuming-flower cards).

Amongst my favourite stamps I would have to mention Lawn Fawn, The Alley Valley, Neat & Tangled, Create a Smile, Whiff of Joy and Tim Holtz. The color challenging companies would be Bildmålarna, Visible Image, Saturated Canary, Cute as a Button and Magnolia. My favorites Die companies must be Magnolia (HUGE Doohickey Fan), MFT (My Favourite Things), Taylored Expressions, Lawn Fawn and Memory Box.

I love to color with Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Brush pens (again, a great gift by my wonderful boyfriend), Distress Markers and Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils.
