Hey all,
this post is very dear to me, since my son requested a card with his all-time favorite stamp: the Cheshire Cat. Not only is it his favorite by Visible Images, but in general, and I have to admit that I own way too many stamp sets already… then again… don’t we all!?? 😉
THE IDEA BEHIND IT
At first, I wasn’t going to make a card with this particular stamp, for I was in all-Halloween/Thanks Giving/Christmas-mode. Maybe it’s just me, but the holiday season can be real overwhealming to the point that I don’t feel like I have the time, nor even energy to work on anything else but the holidays. And ever since my son Erik had spotted another Alice in Wonderland card, that I had made, he kept asking for one 😉
Then it dawned on me: why not take the Cheshire Cat and put him into a Halloween setting !? It was a homerun! 😀
A CLOSER LOOK
So I decided, that I wanted to dress him up with a witches hat and turns out, the hat from the Wicked Witch of OZ stamp set (also Visible Image) fit the Cheshire cat perfectly!
For the coloring, I chose Faber-Castell Artist Pitt Brush pens. Those are my absolute favorite, as I don’t care for alcohol markers at all. For the Moon I used a fabulous AlteNew stampset and stamped the layers in antik linnen and the last one with versa mark and gold embossing powder from WOW. The birch forrest is a die from Taylored Expressions and the background are distress ink pads on watercolor paper. Once I achieved the blended look that I had aspired, I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist in gold.
I hope you like it. My son loved it and it made him so happy ! 🙂
